Local election: First-timer Norman keeps West Park safe for Labour

CONGRATULATIONS ... new West Park Coun Norman Dick with his ward colleague Coun Joyce Welsh and Coun Gladys Hobson.

FIRST-TIME candidate Norman Dick did his party proud at the local elections by keeping West Park in Labour hands.

He beat off a strong UKIP challenge to retain the seat with a majority of 104 to succeed the late Coun Bob Watters in the council chamber.
