Local election: Labour thanks voters for support + VIDEO

COUNCILLORS gave thanks after South Tynesiders voted them back in for another term.

All but one of Labour’s councillors retained their seats during last night’s election - and each were thankful to their constituents.

Coun John Wood, for Beacon And Bents in South Shields, said he was delighted he’s secured another four years.

He said: “It feels excellent. If you do a good job the people vote you back in.”

While Horsley Hill’s Coun Eileen Leask said she felt a mixture of emotions.

She added: “I’m relieved, delighted - everything rolled into one.”
