Local election: Olive holds Biddick Hall & All Saints

POPULAR CHOICE ... Coun Olive Punchion got more than 60% of the vote.

POPULAR CHOICE ... Coun Olive Punchion got more than 60% of the vote.

SITTING councillor Olive Punchion was a popular choice in Biddick & All Saints, even though the ward had the lowest turnout in South Tyneside’s local elections.

For although only 27.7% of those eligible bothered to vote, more than 60% put their cross next to Oliver’s name on the ballot paper.

Result:

Dorothy Byers (Con) 111

Olive Punchion (Lab) 1,076

John Howard Wright (UKIP) 593

Turnout: 27.7%
