ALL that jazz has inspired a website by a Hebburn music lover who used to play alongside Geordie rock superstar Sting.
Lance Liddle, 71, of East Street, Hebburn, has attracted more than 10,000 'hits' from jazz fans across the world for his blog, Bebop Spoken Here.
A tenor saxophonist for many years, jazz lover Mr Liddle used to play with Sting in the Newcastle Big Band during much of the 1970s.
He said: "My first love is bebop jazz, such as Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie or Stan Getz, but I have a wide taste, from Louis Armstrong to the latest jazz sounds.
"Basically, I wanted to create a website to let people know where jazz is being played throughout the region.
"There are still some great venues for modern jazz in the area, such as The Side Cafe in Newcastle and the Saville Exchange, North Shields.
"Bebop Spoken Here has links to all these venues and provides information on a wide variety of jazz matters.
"I now have jazz fans everywhere from Sweden to Brazil regularly visiting the site.
"My other aim was to find a home for the many photographs I have of various jazz festivals over the years."
Mr Liddle had music in his blood from an early age, with
his parents, Lance and Annie Liddle, being music teachers in Ellison Street, Jarrow, for about 40 years.
Lance added: "My mother was known professionally as Madam Rankin and taught piano to generations of children.
"My father was involved in the business, and taught John Miles to play piano, among many others."
But it was the saxophone and jazz music which proved to be Mr Liddle's first love, which he supplemented in his day job, working at Windows music shop in Newcastle for about 30 years.
Although he no longer plays, Mr Liddle still enjoys catching live jazz at several local venues.
