Long wait just the ticket for Shirley

A YEAR ago, X Factor fan Shirley Tron tried to bag herself tickets to see the show.

But her tickets finally came through 12 months later – just at the right time.

The 35-year-old mum-of-three, from Simonside, South Shields, was delighted when she was told she could travel to London to catch the quarter-finals last week.

She said: "I'm a big X Factor fan, but I'm so pleased I didn't get tickets last year – it just so happens that this year we have a Sanddancer in the competition.

"It was amazing, and Joe was absolutely fantastic. He looked so humbled by it all. I've never met him, but he's fab.

"We stood in the queue to get in for nearly eight hours, but it was worth it.

"We were about eight rows from the front and, I have to say, Cheryl Cole is so beautiful in real life.

"We shouted out that we were from South Shields and Cheryl turned round and stuck her thumbs up at us.

"The programme is fantastic on the telly – but it's amazing to be part of it."

Shirley caught the show with sisters Georgina Mountain and Mo Lister and pal Janine Wales, all mums from South Shields.

They also managed to drum up support on the way to the capital, by carrying Gazette Go Joe! posters.

On the train journey down they also met Hartlepool fashion designer Scott Henshall.

Shirley added: "He said he'd been to see the show a couple of weeks ago and he said he likes Joe and thinks he's going to win. I put posters on my luggage, so everywhere we went people knew who we were backing."
