Mercy for thief who stole surgery PC

A FORMER heroin addict who stole a computer from a GP's surgery has been ordered to address his drug problem.

David Graham walked out of Flagg Court Primary Care Centre, South Shields, with one of their computers, containing patients' files, on November 9.

The 44-year-old was caught after a worker at the surgery recognised the former patient. After a search of his home, the equipment was found in a suitcase.

Graham pleaded guilty to stealing a computer and monitor worth 300 when he appeared at South Tyneside Magistrates' Court at an earlier hearing.

David Forrester, defending, told the court that Graham had a significant heroin problem and the offences he committed were to further his addiction.

Yesterday, Graham of Hutton Row, Westoe, South Shields, who has 37 previous convictions for dishonesty dating back to 1975, was sentenced to a 12-month community order and ordered to undertake a 12-month drug and rehabilitation order.
