MOTORISTS faced rush-hour flooding misery this morning as South Tyneside was hit by flash flooding.

Many roads around the borough were left under inches of water as drains struggled to cope.

They included the A194/A185 junction near the Port of Tyne, Stanhope Road and South Eldon Street at Tyne Dock.

The pictures here by Gazette reader Tommy Storey were taken at the A194/A185 junction.
