Party’s over as BNP disappear
Nick Griffin.
FAR right political party the BNP will not field a single candidate in South Tyneside in May.
A spokesman for the party said the move was a political decision in a bid to persuade national leader Nick Griffin to stand down.
Martin Vaughan, fundholder for the party in South Tyneside, said the party was “finished” under Mr Griffin’s leadership.
The move comes despite the BNP standing candidates in all borough electoral wards up for grabs at last year’s local elections.
Rival parties in South Tyneside today expressed their delight at the announcement.
Coun Jane Branley, Independent Alliance representative for Westoe, said she believes the real reason is “disillusionment that they can’t get a toehold in what they thought were winnable seats in South Tyneside”.She added: “I am delighted that the BNP are not fielding any candidate as I abhor everything they stand for.”
Coun Iain Malcolm, the Labour leader of South Tyneside Council, also welcomed the party’s non-participation, adding: “I look forward to the day that the BNP as a political party is disbanded.”
But Coun George Elsom, Real Independent for Cleadon Park, described the withdrawal as a “big surprise”.
He added: “I abhor the BNP and what they stand for, but I defend anyone’s democratic right to stand for election. Their candidate polled well in Cleadon Park last time round, so some people obviously agree with their policies.”
Mr Vaughan said: “Mr Griffin has attracted a lot of bad publicity and the party is in debt. There is a lot of disillusionment with him, and the party in South Tyneside want him to stand down. Under his leadership, the BNP is finished and we need him to go before we can rebuild.
“Previously loyal BNP members are being sacked throughout the country for speaking out against him. I don’t expect to remain in my role for much longer.”
Mr Griffin had been invited to meet his critics at a gathering at the High Lane Social Club in Hebburn at the weekend, but did not attend.
Mr Vaughan added: “He wasn’t even willing to answer his critics.”
Mr Griffin was unavailable for comment.

Sunday, April 3, 2011 at 10:45 PMI am from Dagenham and BNP were doing pretty well for votes in this area. It annoys me when I hear that people say if your voting BNP your racist and what not, I voted BNP and alot of people I know did, the reason being is I wanted to send a message to labour who I did and have lost total faith in that I was not happy. I am fed up with feeling like a second class citizen. I would love an alternative to Labour or Conservative, but lets be honest, there is not going to be one any time soon. My area changed so fast in terms of employment, housing availability, influx of immigrants and all this was ignored by local labour mp's when they would hold meetings or visit the area. It then becomes an issue because we are made to feel like we are in the wrong for voicing our concerns and saying what actually is the issue and get branded as a racist or as something else. Its a viscous circle. I feel like it does not really matter what happens from now on, things that concern the average working person are never going to change. I will vote BNP again, i also feel like that BNP did not get a fair crack at things such as the live tv debate when Nick Griffin was pretty much put down, not given a fair chance to explain questions put to him and not far off bullied into a corner, but thats acceptable because it is him? I think double standards appear when it suits in this country and I am not ashamed to admit I would like a strong leader nationalist leader, I doubt we can recover from Labours mistakes though when they let this country become a glimpse of its former self, that is why so many people I know are planning on leaving.

Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at 06:23 PMThe BNP were never going to break through with Griffin in charge. They were fighting the whole political establishment and their media lap dogs. Any party running an anti establishment nationalistic agenda needed a baggage free and very charismatic leader - of which Nick was neither. The BNP were vilified for daring the challenge the failed experiment of diversity which is costing this country dearly. The stupidity of NU Lab encouraging three million low skilled people to flood the labour market is plain to see. South Shields like so many towns in the UK is jobs “dust bowl” yet has more immigrants than ever before. I believe a new National party will emerge from the ashes of the BNP to challenge the corrupt and passé LIBLABCON parties. I believe support will come from the million of youngster’s consigned to economic scrap heap as a result of LIBLABCON policies.

Saturday, March 26, 2011 at 02:38 PMAll this BNP, UKIP, et al is all good, but we all know there are two runners, Conservatives and Labour! Labour has a stronghold in the northeast that must be broken, they have admitted to shafting the working class to get the middleclass votes! Cameron in the short time in power has done more for the working classes than Labour in 13 years, by far the best exposing council expenditure and forcing MPs and councillors to declare their expenses, Labour sure did squirm then. In the real world we have a choice of Loony, leaderless, backstabbing hypocritical Miliband Labour or Conservatives. Better the devil you know gentlemen, Labour have proven to be backstabbing snakes in the grass, just look at the BT building lies for the latest pack of lies they tell us!!

Friday, March 25, 2011 at 09:11 PMUKIP are the only sensible choice for the nationalist voter, but having said that Sandancer Id still opt for the BNP anyday over the bludging expenses leeches that you obviously still advocate.

Friday, March 25, 2011 at 02:33 PMSadly at times of recession people like the BNP and NF like to find scapegoats to blame, trying to stir up racial hatred. Hopefully the majority of the people of South Tyneside and the country as a whole are wise to this. Don't vote these people in!

Friday, March 25, 2011 at 01:04 PMI suggest that every BNP member join the NF (National Front), the party is run by an authoritarian leader and is suspending and expelling people, if you challenge the leadership then the chances are that the people who voted against the current party leader will get the sack. The NF is not run by an authoritarian leader, it is run by a National Directorate of chairman, deputy chairman, a treasury and regional organisers- that gives the regional organisers a choice to negotiate party policy and most of all, it seems that the NF will be fielding 6 candidates for the Scottish Parliamentary elections for the first time ever! I strongly recommend that every BNP activist help Bob Batten Mark Nichols get elected as NF councillors for Tyneside Borough Council.

Friday, March 25, 2011 at 11:52 AMAnd another thing the bent media has not pointed out that Mr. Griffin has just been awarded full costs of the most recent attack in the courts instigated by the odious trevor phillips of the £70 million a year 'eradicate the British club'.I notice camoron has not cut it's budget. So much for 'costly'ourt cases.

Friday, March 25, 2011 at 12:46 AMOh dear, hark how these people queue up to try and out-do each other in the abhorring of the BNP stakes, I'd be surprised if they even knew the meaning of the word 'abhor', such is their obvious lack in intellect. I take it they think that a country that has 2million + unemployed should just keep on letting immigrants pour in then, oh yes that's very sensible - NOT! They should stop & think about how their ancestors must be turning in their graves, to see this country weakly submit to the indigenous population becoming an ethnic minority in their own country. The BNP is not dead; it is merely in a coma. But soon new life will be breathed in to it, & then it shall return stronger than it ever was before, & anyone with just one patriotic bone in their body will vote for it.

Thursday, March 24, 2011 at 11:42 PMI am not surprised myself as it seems that the party is down below 14,000 which it claimed to have, in fact, it has 5,000 members! So, since the BNP will not be standing, it seems that the NF will be standing in two wards of Tyneside: Howden Ward and Longbenton Ward.

Thursday, March 24, 2011 at 10:57 PMThe party is over, is it? Very interesting. I seem to recollect almost a million votes cast when Griffin and Brons were elected to the totally corrupt eu. The same eu crook administration whose books have not been accepted by the auditors for 13 or 14 years. The same buch of crooks in Brussels that costs us 45 million quid a day in wasted cash.the same eu crooks who stole our fish. The same eu crooks who charge or fine our halfwit 'government' 500 million quid a year for burying our own garbage in our own disused quarries. I notice none of the other parties call themselves British. Perhaps it is because they all steal for foreigners. The house of conmen is a disgrace. The 'upper' house is riddled with creatures who appear to have bought peerages or wriggled through the 'round window'. Government is totally corrupt and treasonous.
