POLICE today confirmed that the body recovered from rocks on South Tyneside’s coast was that of missing Pauline Whitfield.
The 63-year had been missing since leaving the Mecca Bingo Club in South Shields last Thursday at about 9.30pm.
Her body was found yesterday at Marsden, and receovered by police and the Coastguard.
A Northumbria Police spokesman said: “We are now in a position to identify the body found on Thursday morning at Marsden as Pauline Whitfield, 63, from South Shields.
“A report has been prepared for the coroner. The public and media are thanked for their assistance in the search.”
