THE Prime Minister took the chance to see South Tyneside from great heights today

David Cameron spent around two hours at Port of Tyne in Tyne Dock, South Shields, to find out how the businesses has boomed.

He was accompanied by the northeast’s Member of European Parliament, Martin Callanan, who will be aiming to retain his seat in next week’s European Parliament elections.

The pair chatted with Port bosses and met young apprentices before the premier climbed halfway up a seventy-foot gantry crane which overlooks the borough.

After his descent Mr Cameron chatted to the Gazette about how his party plans to help the town’s future regeneration.

To find out more, read tomorrow’s Gazette.
