Romance readers will love event

ROMANTIC fiction fans can spend an indulgent afternoon with their favourite authors in a special Valentine treat.

Chick lit enthusiasts are being invited to Loves Me, Loves Me Not at South Shields Central Library in Prince Georg Square on Saturday.

A group of four top novelists will be sharing the secrets of writing the perfect love story.

The event has been organised as part of the North East Festival of Learning, which is being held to launch the Learning Revolution in the region.

Pauline Martin, reader development librarian, said: "Our readers' afternoon has something for everyone, from bittersweet holiday flings to emotional family weepies; from fun chick-lit tales to historical epics – Loves Me, Loves Me Not is a true celebration of the very best fiction around.

"A rare opportunity to see four bestselling authors in one place."

The authors taking part in the event are Judy Astley, Benita Brown, Elizabeth Chadwick and Sue Moorcroft.

The event will start with a panel discussion. Bookworms will then have a choice of four informal sessions.

Over tea and cakes they'll be able to ask Astley about her modern rom coms, Brown about her Tyneside sagas or find out from Chadwick how she how carries out her historical search.

Budding writers will be able to get tips of the trade from Moorcroft.

The Learning Revolution is aimed at encouraging people to get involved in the many learning opportunities that are available through libraries and other organisations. The event will take place on Saturday between 1pm and 4pm.

Tickets cost 5, including refreshments, and must be booked in advance. For more information or tickets, call in at the Central Library or contact 427 1818.
