Shoplifter admitted stealing vodka from Morrisons

The following people have been dealt with at South Tyneside Magistrates' Court:

Gary Llewellyn, 23, of Pine Street, Jarrow, was given a six-month conditional discharge after admitting stealing two bottles of vodka from Morrisons, in South Tyneside, on Monday, December 7, last year.

He must also pay compensation of £30.

Wayne Parkinson, 36, of Linthorpe Court, South Shields, was given a 12-month conditional discharge after admitting being in possession of cannabis in South Tyneside on Tuesday, December 8, last year.

He was also ordered to pay a £15 victim surcharge.

Stephen Scott, 47, of Beach Road, South Shields, was jailed for a total 18 weeks after admitting stealing bottles of perfume and aftershave valued at £141.50 from Debenhams, in Waterloo Square, South Shields, on Thursday, February 16, stealing a box of Thorntons chocolates valued at £15 from the Thorntons store, South Shields, on Thursday, January 28, and stealing two Sekonda ladies’ watches worth £120 from H Samuels on Saturday, March 5.

He was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £100.

He was given no separate penalty after pleading guilty to a further charge of being in possession of heroin in South Shields on the same date.

Craig Stevenson, 27, of Eglesfield Road, South Shields, was given an 18-week jail sentence – suspended for 18 months – and banned from driving for 18 months after pleading guilty to charges of driving while disqualified and driving without third party insurance.

The offences happened in Eglesfield Road on Wednesday, February 3.

He was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £80.

Damion Meek, 25, of Brixham Crescent, South Shields, as ordered to complete a rehabilitation requirement for 23 days after admitting breaching the terms of a community order by failing to attend appointments on February 22 and March 8.
