Should cannabis be allowed for use as pain relief drug? Today's Web Vote

A MAN who grew his own cannabis, which he used to alleviate the pain of a crippling bone condition, has been hauled before magistrates.

Police found 36 plants in a bedroom at John Langley's South Shields home, along with equipment designed to help them grow faster.

Mr Langley told officers he was cultivating them to bring him relief from osteoporosis, as it is more effective than the drugs his GP prescribed for him.

But he was prosecuted, and yesterday received a two-year conditional discharge from magistrates, plus a warning of dire consequences should he offend again.

The case reopens the whole debate about cannabis use, but do you think growing the drug is acceptable for medical reasons?

In today's web vote we're asking:

Should people be allowed to grow their own cannabis for pain relief for medical conditions?
