SOUTH Shields judo star Sarah Clark will be going for gold tonight as she looks to bring down the curtain on her career in spectacular style at the Commonwealth Games.
Clark - who lives in Edinburgh and is competing for Scotland - had a bye into the quarter-final stage of the women’s Under-63kg division.
She rolled back the years at the SECC in Glasgow to cruise into the final with two vintage displays.
First she recorded an ippon victory over Garima Choudhary, from India, to move into the last four.
Then she enjoyed a thrilling win against Katharina Haecker - possibly the most dramatic of the morning session in Hall 3.
She held down her Australian opponent, whose writhing and bucking could not free herself from Clark’s hold.
Clark, 36. is a former European champion and three-times Olympian who won silver when judo was last in the Commonwealth Games at Manchester 2002.
Her final against Cameroon fighter Helene Wezeu Dombeu is due to start at 6.14pm.
