THE three South Tyneside men who died in a kayaking accident in the River Tyne at the weekend were today named by police.

They are brothers Darren Thorpe, 41, of Madeira Terrace, and Mark Thorpe, 39, of Froude Avenue, both South Shields, and their cousin Gavin Bradley, 36, of Lulworth Avenue, Jarrow.

Inquiries are continuing into the circumstances leading to the deaths and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
