South Tyneside local elections: Who will get your vote in Fellgate & Hedworth?

James Dominic Cunningham (Green Party)

There has to be an alternative to the politics of austerity. I currently work for an advice charity and see every day the damage that austerity is wreaking on the disabled, the old and the vulnerable.

I assist clients to resolve a variety of problems and will use this experience if elected to help people resolve their real, practical, day-to-day problems.

I will make it a priority to promote and assist organisations who offer low-cost access to leisure activities for all age groups.

Finally, politics for me means that when my wife goes to work every day, she goes to work in a hospital owned wholly by the public, where treatment is free at the point of use, and that my children go to a school which is properly resourced.

Fairness is at the heart of Green Party values. Vote Green, and vote for real change.

Fiona Anne Milburn (Conservative Party)

My name is Fiona Milburn and I am delighted to be the Conservative candidate in the local elections this year.

If elected by you, l would work very hard on your behalf, ensuring that your concerns are raised in the council chamber and all issues pertaining to Fellgate and Hedworth are dealt with as a matter of urgency by council officers.

Alan Smith (Labour Party)

I have lived in the Fellgate, Hedworth, Calf Close area for over 40 years.

I am married with three children and four grandchildren. I became chairman of Hedworthfield Primary School after Ofsted rated it as ‘requires improvement’ to drive the deserved improvement and am Vice chairman of St Joseph’s, a ‘Good’ primary school. I am proud and humbled to be Deputy Mayor.

My dedication is sincere and I am loyal to my community and to The Labour Party.

If re-elected on May 5, my voice will continue to be yours and not mine.

We face any challenges. Together, with my fellow Labour councillors and your input, I am determined to make further progress.
