SOUTH Tyneside’s super swimmers are going for global glory at the IPC World Championships in Montreal, Canada, tonight.
Josef Craig was fastest qualifier for the S7 100m freestyle final in 1.02.59, while Nicole Lough smashed her own British record by more than two seconds on her way to the final of the 100m breaststroke S14.
The 16-year-old from Jarrow will be hoping to claim his second gold and third medal of the competition in the race, which gets underway at 11.53pm.
Nicole was second behind hot favourite and world record holder Michelle Alonso Morales in the heats.
The 18-year-old from South Shields was second fastest qualifer overall in 1.20.13 - beating her previous national best of 1.22.61 - to put herself in medal contention for the final at 1.15am on Saturday.
