The court heard that the offence put him in breach of an existing conditional discharge put in place by North Tyneside Magistrates’ Court in January.

Attrill, of Cardonnel Street, North Shields, was jailed for eight weeks.

Magistrates decided to impose a custodial sentence due to Attrill’s previous record, his breach of the conditional discharge and the fact that he himself asked to be sent to prison at the hearing.

Attrill was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £115 and £85 costs.
