Tributes left in memory of four-year-old South Tyneside girl who died after being hit by a car

Floral tributes have been left at the scene where a four-year-old South Tyneside girl was hit by a car.

Ava Henderson suffered serious injuries in the collision, which happened in Amos Ayre Place, Jarrow, at shortly before 7.30pm on Friday, May 27.

She was treated at the scene by ambulance staff and taken to Newcastle's Royal Victoria Infirmary where she sadly later died.

On Sunday morning, flowers were left at Amos Ayre Place in memory of Ava, who lived in Inverness Road, Jarrow.

Messages of sympathy were also left on the Gazette's Facebook page.

Ann Watson posted: "Fly high sweet angel, deepest sympathy to Ava's family xxx."

William Fox wrote: "Absolutely heartbreaking rest in peace little angel."

Northumbria Police officers are continuing to investigate the incident.
