Two men trapped in tower block lift
TWO men were rescued today after becoming trapped in a lift at a Hebburn tower block.
Firefighters were alerted at 1.55am after the men got stuck in an elevator at Westmorland Court, in the town centre.
Eight Hebburn firefighters used a special key to unlock the system and lower the lift.
A fire brigade spokesman said: "The men had been in the lift for about 20 minutes, although we don't know why it malfunctioned. They were both OK."
