THE leader of the UK Independence Party (UKIP) is heading back to South Tyneside.
The national and international media were out in force in May this year when Nigel Farage visited South Shields.
He toured King Street withRichard Elvin, his party’s candidate in that month’s parliamentary by-election.
During his visit, Mr Farage, pictured, also gave a speech at the town’s Armstrong Hall. Now he is set to be the guest of honour at a party fundraising dinner at the Hedworth Hall in Dean Road, South Shields, on Friday, November 15.
Coun Steve Harrison, UKIP representative for Fellgate and Hedworth, and chairman of party’s borough branch, invited Mr Farage to make the return visit.
He said: “We are delighted that Nigel has accepted an invitation to address the fundraising dinner.
“When he gave his speech at the Armstrong Hall earlier this year, he was truly inspirational.”
The night will include a three-course dinner, with funds going towards UKIP’s local elections campaign in the borough next May.
Coun Harrison said: “There will be raffles and possibly a second speaker. We are yet to finalise details.”
Tickets are £20, and are available now from the Hedworth Hall and from Coun Harrison on 0799 0666485.
