A THIRD body has been found in the search for the missing South Shields kayakers.
A huge search and rescue operation was launched last night after three men failed to return from an outing to the River Tyne in the Tyne Valley.
Two cars belonging to them were found at Tyne Green, Hexham, and the train station car park at Wylam.
Two kayaks were recovered, and just after 5.10am, a body was recovered from the river at Riding Mill.
A second body was recovered at just before 6.20am in the Corbridge area.
The search for the third man continuing all morning, and a spokesman for HM Coastguard said they understood a third body was found at around lunchtime at Riding Mill.
