A WOMAN is being treated in hospital for serious burns after a fire at her South Tyneside home.
The 48-year-old was rescued from the house in Westfield, Jarrow, at about 2am following an emergency call.
The woman is reported to have suffered serious burns.
Police say the fire is not being treated as suspicious.
The blaze was tackled by fire crews from Hebburn fire station.
The fire left the ground floor flat badly damaged.
