JOE McElderry was a tired but happy charity champion after completing his Coast to Coast cycle challenge.
The X Factor and Popstar to Opera Star champ was joined by 15 family and friends on the 150-mile mission from Whitehaven to South Shields.
And despite the inevitable aches and pains, the 22-year-old was delighted to see their efforts raise more than £10,000 for the Teenage Cancer Trust.
Speaking to the Gazette after completing the challenge, Joe said: “I’m tired but thrilled by what we’ve done.
“It’s been brilliant. I literally feel like I’ve been on a bike for the last two weeks, but it’s one of the best things I’ve ever done.
“It’s been an amazing experience. To do this with 15 friends and family and raise so much money for a great cause has been so worthwhile.
“It’s different to anything I’ve ever done before but we all spurred each other on. I’ve done the Great North Run before so know about doing things over a distance, but this was great fun and something really special.
“We’ve auctioned off the bike and other items and we’ve managed to raise over £10,000, which has been fantastic.
“We got so many texts and tweets from people backing us along the way. Whenever the legs were getting tired and weary, that support kept us going. I’d like to thank everyone who has backed us, it meant so much.”
