Man found stabbed in the street after city centre attack

A man has been taken to hospital with stab wounds and a leg injury after he was found by police outside a busy North East bar.

Officers were called to an incident in Grainger Street, Newcastle at 7.17pm, today following reports of an injured man.

They found a man in the street outside the Mile Castle pub had been stabbed and suffered a leg injury. He has been taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary for treatment.

Police are investigating and are appealing for witnesses anyone who was in the area and who may have seen or heard anything suspicious is asked to contact police.
