A new cocktail bar looks set to cause a stir in South Shields with its high end vibe.
The new bar, called Clover and Wolf, has opened its doors following a £250,000 revamp.
The venue, which has taken over the site of the former Mile pub on Brigham Place in the town centre, has only been open a few weeks, but already looks to have shaken up the town’s nightlife with its eclectic mix of cocktails.
And director Marcus Porthouse, 40, couldn’t be happier with the finished look.
He said: “My family has always been involved in the business, and have had a few bars in the past including Life of Riley.
“I have worked in them all my life, but this is the first bar I have taken on on my own.
“We have given it a total refurbishment to make it into a high end cocktail bar and officially opened on March 16.
“I have taken inspiration from bars I have been to in New York, as I wanted to create a high wend look.”
The bar offers a bespoke cocktail list alongside its daily food menu and also has a DJ spinning the decks on evenings.
Mr Porthouse hopes its high end vibe will attract a mix of ages to the bar.
He added: “I think it looks really good.
“What makes us different is that we have a bespoke cocktail list. “We had an expert from London come up to train staff on how to make a mix of classic and signature cocktails such as the Salted Caramel Shake which is made up of vodka ice cream.
“We will be offering 241 cocktails and Fizz Fridays where a bottle of Prosecco is £10.
“We have kept the patio area at the front and inside we have created a industrial look with a luxury feel.
“Already we have had really good feedback and people are loving the drinks and the decor.” The bar will be offering food from noon to 8pm Monday to Thursday and from noon to 6.30pm on Saturdays. Sunday lunches will also be served from noon to 6pm.
The function room upstairs is still available for hire by contacting the bar directly.
