Northumbria Police are appealing for information after two cars were set alight in South Tyneside.

Crews were called to two incidents in Felling and Hebburn between 3am and 4.45am on Wednesday, September 21, following reports of cars having been set on fire.

The first incident was in Follingsby Terrace in Hebburn, where a Vauxhall Vectra was on fire.

The second was in Dexter Way, Felling, where a Vauxhall Corsa had been set alight.

Crews were also called to a third incident on Split Crow Road in Gateshead where an X-Type Jaguar had also been set on fire.

All of the fires were extinguished and no one was injured.

Inquiries are ongoing into the fires and police believe they may have been started maliciously.

Witnesses reported seeing a white Transit van in the area of Split Crow Road shortly before the fire.
