Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses after a motorcyclist was seriously injured in a collision in South Shields.

The two vehicle crash took place on the A183 Coast Road around 9.55am on Saturday, August 12, when a Silver Triumph motorcycle and a Citroen van collided approximately 150 metres north of the junction with the A1300.

The motorcyclist, a 47-year-old man, suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to the Royal Victoria Infirmary where his condition is described as critical but stable.

Police are renewing their appeal for witnesses and anyone with information about the collision and anyone who may have seen the vehicles prior to the collision is asked to contact Motor Patrols on 101 quoting reference number 411 of 12/08/17.
