A PUB boss is gearing up to hit the road in his firs Great North Run to help make children’s dreams come true.
Alex Ozobia, duty manager at Kirkpatricks, in Ocean Road, South Shields, is preparing to embark on the 13.1m running challenge in aid of the Make A Wish Foundation.
It will be the first time the 24-year-old has taken part in the event, which will see thousands of runners head to the coast at South Shields from Newcastle on September 15.
Mr Ozobia, said: “It’s something I have always wanted to do but just never got round to doing.
“I know a lot of people who do the run for charities and when I was looking for a charity to run for, I came across the Make A Wish Foundation.
“After reading up on them I just felt it was a really good charity for children to raise money for.”
He added: “This is my first Great North Run and training for it, is going good so far. I’m just hoping as many people as possible will support me in my fundraising efforts.”
The Make a Wish Foundation helps to make the wishes of young people suffering from life-threatening conditions come true.
Mr Ozobia has charity boxes on the bar of Kirkpatricks, where people can drop in their small change, while a just giving page has also been set up.
Anyone who would like to sponsor Alex can call into the pub or visit www.justgiving.com/alex-ozobia
