The EDL march will set off from Fowler Street at about 1pm on Saturday.
From there, they will head off on to Beach Road, leading on to Sea Road.
When they arrive at Pier Parade, at approximately at 1.20pm, a short demonstration will be staged.
At the same time counter-demonstrators will be gathered at the junction of Lawe Road and Pier Parade.
Annie McCarthys pub in Albermarle Street will not open during part of the day, from 11am to 3pm, after police advice.
Police say South Shields will be ‘open for business’, with shops and other pubs operating as usual.
There may be some minor disruption around rolling road closures needed to facilitate the march.
At the end of the demo protesters will be led back through the route, and will disperse at Mile End Road.
The roads will only be closed on a rolling basis as the procession marches.
