TWO tireless workers have been named ‘tourism heroes’ for their efforts in ensuring visitors to South Tyneside get the warmest of welcomes.
Jim Holloway and Hilary Jago, both based at South Shields’ Haven Point Leisure Centre, have been hailed for their hard-working efforts in promoting the best the borough has to offer.
Hilary leads the tourist information team which gives advice and recommendations to the thousands of visitors that flock to South Tyneside each year, while Jim caters for the needs of local residents as head of the £16m complex.
Their sterling service has been highlighted as part of English Tourisn Week, which runs until Friday.
Coun Alan Kerr, deputy leader of South Tyneside Council, said: “Both David and Hilary have shown immense dedication in their respective roles, and, along with their hard-working teams, have helped bring a real boost to South Tyneside’s leisure and tourism sectors.”
