AN afternoon of festive fun aims to bring the generations together in South Tyneside.

Age UK South Tyneside has joined forces with The Dunes in South Shields to host Santa’s Variety Sack.

The event, on Monday, November 25, aims to give youngsters of all ages the chance to meet Santa, receive a present and either a free games of bowls or soft play.

It has also been designed so grandparents can spend quality time with their grandchildren.

Chief executive of Age UK South Tyneside, John Briers, said: “Santa’s Variety Sack is an excellent way to encourage grandparents, grandchildren and the community to get together, while supporting local charities.

“It also addresses one of our key concerns as a charity, social isolation, encouraging people to get together with family, friends and neighbours.

“We are proud to be involved with The Dunes, which has an excellent reputation for providing family entertainment.”

Age UK South Tyneside is based in Beach Road, South Shields.

The charity aims to promote the wellbeing of older people, to help make later life a fulfilling and enjoyable experience.

Liam Connor, marketing manager at The Dunes, said: “Santa’s Variety Sack was such a success last year, we decided to run a week of events to raise funds and benefit a number of local causes including Age UK South Tyneside.

“The event provides grandparents with an opportunity to both entertain and create a memory with their grandchild, and support older people in their community.”

Tickets for the event cost £5.20, with £1 from every sale donated to Age UK South Tyneside.

Tickets are available at Age UK South Tyneside, at 29 Beach Road, South Shields, or by calling 456 6903 or The Dunes on 455 5255.
