We’re ready to recognise the best sporting talent in South Tyneside – and we’re doing it with the support of a superb backer.

BT South Tyneside Limited is continuing its tremendous record of backing the sporting excellence category of our Best of South Tyneside awards. This year’s winner will follow in the footsteps of boxer Anthony Nelson who claimed the Commonwealth superflyweight title.

Mark Johnson, chief operating officer at BT South Tyneside, said: “I think it’s really important to support this fantastic award which recognises the ambition, talent and achievements of the people involved with sport in South Tyneside.”

He added: “The Sporting Excellence award is recognised not just in the borough – but also regionally and nationally. South Tyneside has produced some exceptional sporting talent over the years, and this award celebrates the excellence and commitment of those individuals and teams.”

Mark added: “We are truly proud to sponsor and be associated with this category and wish all the nominees the best of luck.”

The Best of South Tyneside awards have a headline sponsor of Siemens and are being held in association with The Customs House, and with Port of Tyne, BT South Tyneside, Barbour, David Gray and Harlow Print as category sponsors.

The grand finale will be held at the Quality Hotel on June 9.
