SHOPPERS at a South Tyneside supermarket were taken back in time to mark 100 years since the outbreak of the First World War.
Staff at Asda in Boldon donned attire from the era and offered customers the chance to play old war-time games such as hopscotch in the foyer.
The store also brought out the bunting and belted out wartime songs, including Pack Up Your Troubles In Your Old Kit Bag, to help shoppers get into the mood.
The event was organised to mark the 100th anniversary since the start of the war.
Community life champion Tracey Tough said: “It is important to remember the sacrifices made by so many, including those from South Tyneside, so we wanted to do something special for our customers to mark the occasion.”
