A SOCIAL club which has been in busines for more than 50 years is still aiming to help dance fans step out to live music.
Whiteleas Social Club, South Shields, is playing host to ballroom sessions with music performed by a live band.
The sessions are just a range of activities taking place at the venue in Oswald Street, South Shields.
Club secretary Billy Symcox, said: “The club was opened in 1959 with a small concert room, but over the years the place has expanded, with a lounge and a much larger concert room.
“We hold a number of activities at the club, which some people are not aware of, including an over-60s club and ballroom dancing with music performed by a live band.”
He added: “Biddick Hall and Whiteleas are two very big estates and we would love to see more new faces coming in to the club to see what we have to offer.”
On Mondays and Thursdays the club hosts a quiz night. On Tuesday, there is a ladies’ section while entertainment is provided on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays.
There is also line dancing on a Sunday and Tuesday.
The over-60s club – known as the Friendly Club – is on Thursdays from noon to 3pm.
