A man involved in supplying drugs was caught with his pants down after sending a video of his genitals to a teenage girl.

Jetu Miah, 28, posted several messages to the girl’s facebook account before sending the video, South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court heard.

It was only after the police were called and examined his phone that they found Miah, of Wallington Grove, South Shields, was also involved in the supply of cannabis.

Paul Anderson, prosecuting, told the court that the messages were reasonably innocuous at first and that the victim simply ignored the communications rather than block them.

He added: “Matters took a more serious turn when Miah contacted her using the facetime video messaging service.

“The video showed him naked from the waist down, with his genitals clearly exposed.

“The victim ended the call, but Miah reconnected and did the same thing again.”

Mr Anderson said the alarm was raised by a college teacher who saw the video message and contacted the police.

He added: “When Miah’s phone was examined, officers found messages indicative of cannabis dealing. He said that drugs had ruined his life.”

Miah admitted sending an obscene message via a public communications network.

He also admitted being concerned in the supply of class B drugs over a four-month period earlier this
year.

Geoffrey Forrester, defending, said: “There was no physical contact or any attempt to meet her and Mr Miah made no benefit from the drug dealing.

“He did put buyers in contact with sellers, but took no further part in the transactions.”

Miah was sentenced to a community order of three years, including rehabilitation activity, and a sex offender’s treatment programme.

He was also ordered to pay £250 costs and victim surcharge at a rate of £20 a week.

The girl was over the age of 16 at the time of the offence.
