It aims to bring the local workforce into direct contact with employers, training providers and organisations able to assist in finding suitable employment.

There will also be help on offer to advise people improving their CVs and a range of vacancies provided directly by employers.

The event is open to everyone from 10am until 3pm and opportunities available will be across all sectors. It takes place at the college’s Westoe campus in St Georges Avenue, South Shields.

Emma said: “Thanks to this Government’s poor economic investment coupled with an aggressive cuts agenda South Shields continues to struggle with high unemployment levels.

I hold this fair every year, and every year I make sure employers do have real jobs on offer, this is becoming harder as the damage the Government have done to our economy takes hold, but I am pleased to say that this year we once again have employment opportunities for all ages.

“I know this fair won’t solve unemployment in our area but I do hope some people will walk away with a job.

“I also want to thank South Tyneside College, the Port of Tyne and South Tyneside Council as well as the businesses and organisations attending.”

As part of the event, a CV workshop will run in a college computer room, from 10am to noon.

Improving employment has always been one of Emma’s main aims since she gained the South Shields seat back in 2013.

At the time she said: “I will help get people back to work, champion our wonderful town and never give the Tory Government one moment’s peace.

“The young lad desperate to find a job. The concerned dad worried about the future of his daughter. I will never forget these people and Labour will never give up fighting for them.”
