A zumba instructor is aiming to get South Tyneside moving and help boost the funds of an Alzheimer’s charity.

Clare Fraser is inviting people to take part in a two-hour zumbathon session, tomorrow.

We want to make it a real family event as children are welcome to come along and take part too.

The event will be held at the Chuter Ede Charitable Incorporated Organisation, in Galsworthy Road, Biddick Hall, South Shields starting at 10am.

It will be the second fundriasing event that Clare - who has been teaching Zumba for almost eight years - has hosted for charity.

A similar event at Temple Park Centre saw almost 100 people take part.

Alzheimer’s Research was chosen after members of Clare’s family suffered from the condition.

She said: “The charity is something close to home for both myself and my husband as both our grandparents have been affected by it.

“I’m also taking part in the Great North Run for the same charity. I thought holding a special Zumba session it would help raise more funds for such a great charity.

“The last time I held something like this, we had a great turnout. Hopefully, it will be the same tomorrow.

“We want to make it a real family event as children are welcome to come along and take part too.”

The event is open to people of all ages with a raffle taking place on the day. Entry to the class is £5 with monies donated to the charity.

Zumba is an aerobic fitness programme featuring movements inspired by various styles of Latin American dance.

Clare runs twice weekly Zumba sessions at Chuter Ede CIO on a Monday and Thursday from 6pm until 7pm.
