A trip to the gym for a South Tyneside beautician has led to the launch of a new business venture.

Kelsey Watts joined No Lippy, run by fitness entrepreneur Donna Kerr-Foley in Hebburn, earlier this year.

“I opened at the beginning of the month and I have had quite a few of her members in for treatments.”

Spotting a business opportunity, the 20-year-old asked Mrs Kerr-Foley if the on-site salon based within the gym, in Prince Consort Road, had a beautician .

After being told it didn’t, she asked if she could take on the self-employed role – helping to give her mobile business, Kelsey’s Nail and Beauty, a permanent base also.

Less than a month into her new position, the mobile beautician has seen her client base soar and is now looking to expand on the services she offers.

Miss Watts, from Jarrow, said: “I started off doing nails and really enjoyed it so I enrolled on a beauty course, where I trained in other areas of the industry.

“I started running a sunbed shop and doing beauty appointments on a mobile basis, but after a while I realised it was the beauty side of things I was really interested in.

“I closed down the shop and started to focus on the beauty business.”

Miss Watts added: “When No Lippy opened I went along as my auntie is a member.

“ I asked if they had a beautician in the salon and when I was told no, I decided to
see if I could take on the
role.

“I opened at the beginning of the month and I have had quite a few of her members in for treatments.”

The beautician works from two rooms within the building, carrying out nail treatments in the salon, while other treatments are carried out bin a more private room.

Treatments include nails, gel nails, waxing, spray tans, eyelashes, tinting and make-up.

Wedding and prom packages, holiday packages and children’s pamper parties are also available.

Miss Watts added: “I tend to be in the gym on an evening as that’s when a lot of the people come in and also following the school run.

“I also have appointment slots available during the course of the day either at the salon or as part of my mobile business.”

Miss Watts is based within the salon Monday to Friday from 4.30pm.
