South Tyneside training service is relaunched

A learner recounting her experiences of training.

The purpose was to raise the awareness of what the STTPN is doing and offer informal opportunities to develop closer links between training providers, schools and employers.

The STTPN was established to enhance the quality of work-based learning, increase training participation, achievement and progression to meet the needs of local employers and learners.

The Mayor of South Tyneside, Councillor Richard Porthouse, welcomed guests Angela Brown and Angela Anderson, managing directors of Training in Care and Zenith People respectively, who championed the importance of training for employers.

Susan Stokoe, headteacher at Boldon Nursery, Geoff Scott, Keepmoat Community investment manager, and Shelagh Lamb, manager at Springboard, all espoused the benefits of apprenticeships to employers and learners.

And trainees Michelle and Caitlyn talked about their successful experiences.

In keeping with the aims of the evening, there was a large learner input to the event.

Learners from South Tyneside College and Springboard helped prepare the room, registered guests, and provided the buffet.

Entertainment was provided by music student Jordan Maddison.
