A WOMAN from South Tyneside has died on a family holiday in Spain.
Heather Gateshill, 66, from the Lawe Top, South Shields, died from a heart attack while surrounded by her family on holiday at Ardeals Lake in Malaga.
Her funeral service was due to be held at South Shields Crematorium today.
Mrs Gateshill, a mother-of-two and a grandmother, was well-known in South Shields for her love of country music.
She was also a long-term foster parent, businesswoman and auxiliary nurse.
Her husband of 50 years, Allen, said: “Everyone knew Heather. She was the backbone of the family and loved by all.
“She died in a place that she loved.”
