PEOPLE are sitting pretty for improved fitness at a Jarrow church.
Seated exercise classes are held at Grange Road Baptist Church every Wednesday, between 10am and 11am.
The session is just one of many resuming at the town centre church after the summer break.
The Rev Roy Merrin said: “A tutor from Age UK comes along to lead the seated exercise class, which helps keep people supple.
“The class is free and is ideal for anyone, of any age.
“We usually have between eight and 10 people at the seated exercise class, but there is room for more.”
Situated just minutes from Jarrow Metro and bus stations, Grange Road Baptist Church offers various classes throughout the week.
A free computer class is available between 10am and 11am every Friday, while a popular coffee shop is open on Wednesdays and Fridays, at 10am. The church also holds a monthly men’s group, which will meet this Wednesday, at 7pm.
A parents and tots class will resume after the summer break next Monday, at 9.30am.
Mr Merrin added: “Every year, we hold an Alpha course, which is an introduction to the Christian faith, and I will lead the 12-week sessions, which start on Wednesday, September 10, at 1.30pm.
“People are welcome to come along and learn about the basic principles and ideas of Christianity, in a relaxed atmosphere.”
Sunday school will also restart at the Jarrow church this Sunday, at 10am.
