A TEENAGER suffered a dislocated knee after slipping on rocks at a South Tyneside beauty spot.

The teen was at Trow Point on Saturday when he slipped on rocks injuring himself.

A crew from Tynemouth RNLI lifeboat volunteers was launched at 5.20pm as it was unsure if it would be possible to evacuate him from the beach by land.

The team were met from Sunderland Coastguard Rescue Team and South Shields Volunteer Life Brigade who were with the casualty.

The teenager received treatment from the crew before being placed in an ambulance and taken to hospital.
