Teen remanded in custody after South Shields town centre attack leaves man in critical condition

Police are appealing for information after a man was assaulted in South Tyneside.

The incident happened in the early hours of Monday, August 8 in Mile End Road, near the taxi rank in South Shields.

A 30-year-old man suffered a serious head injury and is currently in hospital in a critical but stable condition.

A man has been charged with GBH and was due to appear at South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court yesterday morning and was remanded in custody.
