Three further arrests after the fatal stabbing of a North East woman

Five men have now been arrested following the death of Jodie Wilkinson.

Officers have arrested a further two men, aged 18 and 20, in connection with the 27-year-old's death. They are currently in police custody.

Jodie and a 25-year-old man were walking in Stanhope Street in the Arthurs Hill area of Newcastle shortly before 3.50pm yesterday when they became involved in an altercation with a group of men.

The pair were attacked by the group and suffered stab wounds. The group of men then fled to a nearby address in the Queens Court area.

Paramedics attended and the pair were taken to hospital with serious injuries. The man received treatment and was later discharged from hospital but Miss Wilkinson died as a result of her injuries. Officers attended an address in Queens Court, Newcastle, and two men aged 25 and one aged 22 were arrested. They also remain in custody.
