Independent travel agent Westoe Travel is hoping to set the Mariners off on the road to success after agreeing a deal to sponsor the club’s travel to the FA Vase final.
The company, which has been a backer of the club for a number of seasons, has extended its sponsorship deal through to the end of the 2017-18 campaign.
It will see Westoe Travel provide coaches for all players and club staff for the journey to Wembley, with the final to take place on Sunday, May 21.
South Shields FC commercial manager Alisha Henry said: “We are delighted to continue our partnership with Westoe Travel, who have shown us fantastic support throughout the season. The way they - and many other businesses - have got behind the club has been incredible, and we’re so grateful for their backing.
“Agreeing to sponsor the travel costs of the team and staff members for the trip to London is a superb gesture and further underlines Westoe Travel’s support.
“We’re also thrilled that the sponsorship deal has been extended through to the end of next season, when the club will be competing in the Evo-Stik League with much greater travelling distances to away matches.
“If the demand is there, Westoe Travel will be putting on coaches for supporters to attend those games, so this partnership will hopefully continue to reap benefits for all concerned.”
Westoe Travel are arranging travel packages for supporters to get to the FA Vase final and the company makes a donation to the Mariners for every supporter who books with them.
Graeme Brett, director of Westoe Travel, said: “We have been amazed at the fantastic support for the team and the number of supporters wishing to travel to Wembley for this historic day.
“As a result, we are delighted to have been able to confirm to the club that Westoe Travel will sponsor the travel costs of the team for the FA Vase final.
“We have had tremendous support from the residents of South Tyneside for 28 years and we are delighted to be able to support our local football team.”
