SWIM stars Josef Craig and Nicole Lough enjoyed a heroes’ welcome when they returned from the IPC World Swimming Championships with their medals.
Josef, 16, from Jarrow, swam his way to gold in the S7 400m freestyle – smashing his own world record in the process.
He also struck gold in the 100m freestyle and silver in the 50m event.
Meanwhile, Nicole, 18, from South Shields, battled her way to bronze and a place on the podium in the S14 100 breaststroke.
Joining the family and friends who greeted them at Newcastle Airport was Coun Alan Kerr, deputy leader of South Tyneside Council.
