PEOPLE came from far and wide to take part in this year’s Great North Dog Walk.
While thousands of South Tynesides took part in the trek across the Leas in South Shields, some people had slightly further to travel.
Helen Ridley brought her pooch Jack, two, all the way from New Zealand, where she lived for 11 years.
The 42–year–old moved back to the north east six weeks ago and Jack had to spend 30 hours in the plane’s hold.
She said: “Jack is loving it here today, he’s having a good old sniff at all of the new smells.”
