A WOMAN who was found collapsed in a South Tyneside park yesterday is in a critical condition.
Police were called to Readhead Park, in Sunderland Road, Westoe, South Shields, at about 10.30am yesterday, after a passer-by found the woman, who is in her mid-50s.
She was taken to South Tyneside District Hospital in Harton Lane, South Shields, by ambulance. Her condition is described as ‘critical but stable’.
A cordon was placed around a section of the park until the early afternoon as officers carried out investigations.
However, a spokesman for Northumbria Police said: “We carried out investigations in the area and there was no third party involvement.”
