A WOMEN’S group in East Shields marked the organisation’s anniversary celebrations by donating £1,500 worth of equipment to charity.
Members of the Inner Wheel Club of Harton handed over a selection of gifts to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the Inner Wheel Clubs of Great Britain.
The group, which is based at St Gregory’s Church Hall, in Borough Road, Harton, donated a wheelchair and two motorised mini exercise bikes to St Clare’s Hospice and also a wheelchair to Primrose Hill Community Hospital, both in Jarrow.
Dorothy Wadge, former president, from East Boldon, said: “Our club has been running for 39 years, but as part of the overall celebrations, we decided to use our funds to donate equipment to the two local causes.”
The ladies raise their money by having regular raffles and coffee mornings, where members will pay £1 and make small donations.
They will then decided which community groups to help with their funds.
The group, which meets on the first Thursday of every month at 7.30pm, is always looking for new members and all women are welcome to go alone.
